Presso il “Cure International Hospital” le è stata applicata una protesi ed è tornata a casa.
ASSENZA CONGENITA DEL PIEDE SINISTRO
- A. è la figlia di D. D., ha 3 anni e mezzo e soffre di apodia (assenza del piede sinistro sopra l’articolazione della caviglia).
- A. è la quarta di 5 fratelli, riesce a stare in piedi ma non cammina correttamente a causa della disabilità fisica; spesso cade e si fa male.
È stata identificata tramite visite domiciliari nella comunità e la sua storia è stata raccontata. La Direzione di CIPAD ha condiviso la situazione con il donatore, che ha approvato il supporto per la fornitura di protesi.
A B. è stata indirizzata al Cure International Hospital di Kijabe per una valutazione e una indicazione per la protesi. Dopo la valutazione e la indicazione, A B. è stata nuovamente riportata al Cure Hospital per la prova della protesi e delle scarpe. La protesi è stata realizzata per garantire che entrambe le gambe siano alla stessa altezza quando sta in piedi e cammina.
Quando cammina, riesce a stare in equilibrio e cammina abbastanza bene; la sua andatura è soddisfacente, con una leggera torsione laterale quando cammina. Tuttavia, questo potrebbe non rappresentare una sfida importante, forse è dovuto all’inesperienza. Speriamo che adotti e si trovi a suo agio con la protesi e le scarpe.
A B. dovrà tornare il 10/12/2025 al Cure International Hospital di Kijabe per una nuova valutazione.
Man mano che cresce, le scarpe potrebbero non calzarle più bene tra 2-3 anni. In tal caso, potrebbe essere necessario un nuovo paio di scarpe, a seconda della situazione e della valutazione effettuata.
In conclusione, A B. ora cammina abbastanza bene ed è una bambina più felice.
I genitori hanno espresso il loro sincero apprezzamento per il supporto ricevuto.
CONGENITAL MALFORMATION OF LEFT FOOT
- A. is the daughter of D. D. , she is 3 1/2 years old she suffers from absence of the left foot below the ankle joint (Apodia)
- is the 4th born of 5 siblings, she can stand up but could not walk properly due to the physical disability many times she could fall and hurt herself.
She was identified through home visits in the community and her story was shared, the management team shared the condition with the donor who approved for support to provide prosthesis.
was referred to cure international hospital Kijabe for assessment and recommendation for prosthesis. After the assessment and recommendation B. was returned to Cure Hospital again to fit the prosthesis and shoes. The prosthesis was made to ensure both legs are at the same level when she stands and walk.
When she walks she could balance herself well and walk fairly well her gait is well satisfactory with a slight twist to the side was noted when she walks. However this may not be a major challenge, may be it is because of inexperience. Hopefully she will adopt and be comfortable using the prosthesis and the shoes.
was given a return date of 10/12/2025 for reassessment and determine her comfortability.
As she grow up the shoes may fail to fit well in 2 – 3 years from now. Then she may require a new shoe depending on situation and assessment done.
In conclusion B. can now walk fairly well and happier child.
The parents have expressed their sincere appreciation for the support provided.
